The first adventure I stumbled upon was making felt flowers for hair pins, skirts and head bands.
Then I expanded my horizon a bit and started making flowers out of cloth... exciting!
The next step was actually a large one. Nicole and I went to our local DI and found some 5 dollar skirts that we really liked. Some fit but there were some that were actually ginormous. So we decided to try out our very basic sewing skills and try to make them fit.
My first one was actually quite complicated. It was originally a box skirt and a size 32. So I trimmed out some of the fabric and then I decided to make it more like a mermaid skirt. The bottom part of the skirt went really well but my butt area kept having a bump on it no matter what we did. But we finally got it fixed and I think it turned out really well and that it goes great with my cowboy boots :-)
The next one was easy peasy. It was a size 40 A line skirt with an elastic waist band. All I had to do was make sure that I kept the A line angle and sew it back up. Its super comfortable and looks really cute.
Last weekend Nicole and I decided to attempt to make all the feather headbands and clips that we see everywhere. The hardest part was finding feathers that we thought were cute. It was mardi gras weekend so most of the feathers were taken to make masks. It was also kind of weird because some of the feathers still had dried pieces of skins, it was actually quite disgusting. They turned out really well and we still have tons of feathers.
I find it funny that I ended up making a flower with the feathers... must be a habit. Haha! And don't you just LOVE my camera coloring changes... It has issues...
Tomorrow we are attempting to make ruffle sleeve and necked shirts out of plain t-shirts. I'll let you know how it goes!

Funny that you are the child that became 'crafty'. Ten years ago, even 5 years ago, I would have never believed it!
Those are so fun! I wish I had the means to be that craft.
Wow Kenna! You have skills! You need to come over and teach me!
So so cute!
