Brian's brother Kevin graduated from High School this year and in Texas after you graduate you get a big party. So Brian flew home for the party and was planning on driving his new Accord back after the party. The drive from Texas to Provo is about 18 hours. Brian's parents decided they didn't want him drving it alone so they convinced him to have me fly down. So on Wednesday June 17th they all called me and surprised me with my flight that next morning. The funny thing about this was that I actually had a Spring final to take that next day. My flight left at 10 and the testing center for BYU opens at 8. So I got to take my New Testament final in ten minutes. Yup, I answered 78 questions in 10 minutes... haha. Needless to say I didn't do as well as I would of had I taken time on it but hey I don't have to worry about keeping my scholarship anymore!
The Aleman's who are friends of the Weirich family drove me to the airport and 5 hours (and a very uncomfortable flight where I was in the row infron of the emergency exit which didn't have a window, the chairs didn't lean back, there was less leg room, the head rest hit the wrong spot and caused my neck to be bent, and the guy next to me had a large bag the spilled over into my leg room... so fun) later I was in Austin Texas. The weather there was a definite shocker, Utah hadn't broken 90 yet and Austin was 98 plus humidity, I was dying. Luckily the AC in Brian's car worked very well. We then did the one hour drive to Fredericksburg. The first thing we did upon our arrival was go ride the horses, Aly and Peanut, and meet Aly's colt, Nina. Then we went to the store and picked up some Oak Farms... the best chocolate milk in the whole wide world.
The next day we got invited to the Rodeo by Brian's friend Ed. So Brian and his dad took me to Tractor Supply to buy a shirt that would make me look a little more like a country girl ( basically so Brian wouldn't be embarrassed to be seen with me... haha). Brian's dad found a realy cute yellow pearl snap shirt. They also surprised me by buying me a belt and a pair of boots (I rode Peanut the day before in flip flops which is really hard). We then of course had to go horse riding to test out my new boots.

We then took showers and had some of Rick's (Brian's Dad) famous Chicken Fried Steak. Then we ran out the door to the Stonewall's Peach Jamboree Rodeo. The funniest thing happened when we were trying to enter the rodeo. I didn't bring my ID and they kept asking us if we were over 21. I kept telling them that we were but that we didn't drink. They were so confused and didn't really know what to do and they finally just let us through. I guess there are very amny people at rodeos who are sober. Brian's friend Ed and his girlfriend Christine had the same problem ( they aren't mormon but have the same basic standards). It was a really small rodeo but still very fun. There was also a dance there afterwords. Another funny thing I have never seen before was all the couples that were dancing still both had beers in their hands. It looked really uncomfortable to be holding it like that but guess they just didn't want their beer stolen :-). Brian and I danced a few songs and decided that we needed to take a country dancing class.

The next day was spent cleaning up around the Weirich house in preparation for Kevin's Party that night. We got to mow, weedwhip, trim branches, rip out lots of pokey bushes, move some old wood (in which were the BIGGEST black widow and brown recluse spiders that I have ever seen... and Brian wasn't wearing any gloves when he was picking up the wood, I was) and burn all the garbage. I even got to learn how to drive the tractor. I also got to go feed the cows and pet them. The only one that really let me get close was Betty the cow.

After everything was clean we decided to ride the horses one last time before we left/ we also worked with little Nina for a bit. We got her to wear a halter for the first time and tried to teach her how to be on a lead rope.

Then we had the big party where we got to eat Rick's wonderful BBQ and hang out with lots of Brian's relatives and family friends. Then at around midnight we took off for Provo. We made it to Provo in 16 hours without getting a ticket and getting lost for about an hour. :-)
