So I'm in my abnormal psychology class right now. We just learned about the official criteria for having "Substance Dependence Disorder". The criteria for the disorder is...
A. Pattern of substance use leading to clinically significant impairment/distress as manifested by 3+ symptoms in a 12 month period.
1. Tolerance (need increased amounts or effects decrease)
2. Withdrawal
3. Substance taken in large amounts over longer periods than intended.
4. Desire or unsuccessful efforts to control substance use
5. A lot of time is spent in activities necessary to obtain or recover from substance
6. Importance activities given up or reduced b/c of abuse
B. Substance use continued despite knowing the physical/psychological problems it is causing or exacerbating


So there it is, after reading this I decided the substance I was dependent on was brian. Haha.
